Coffee Rota

click for Coffee Rota from February 5th 2012

As some of you may know, I have taken over the running of the Coffee Rota. This covers the refreshments offered to parishioners after Sunday worship and which are served to you by a fantastic, cheerful, loyal, bunch of volunteers, who turn up for duty whatever the weather.

Mrs Bubbles Seryck used to run this service. When she sadly died, organising the rota was taken over by Mrs Christine Bunce in the Parish Office who has done an incredible job with it. I always felt it was unfair for Christine to have to cope with this as she has so many other things to do and is always so very busy. I began to think I would take it over but wanted to wait until I came off the PCC and could devote more time to it. This happened in April this year and so I am now the one who will be making out the rotas and chivvying up the troops.

I do not anticipate getting very involved as the whole thing runs pretty smoothly as it is. I am just hoping to keep on top of ensuring that people turn up when they should or if they can’t, that they have made sure of a substitute.

We really could do with some more helpers. It doesn’t involve very much. Turning up about 20 minutes before the 10 a.m. service to help prepare everything and then slipping out of church before the last hymn in order to finalise everything so we are standing, beaming, behind the tables as the congregation comes in. Then there is the clearing away afterwards. We are usually finished by 12 noon so it is not too onerous.

The more helpers there are, the less time each person would have to do it in a year. So if you feel you could give your services about eight times a year, we would be very pleased to have you in our team. Please do think about it and if you would like to help, please contact me on 020 8367 1846 or 07906139165 or e-mail me at kathy@the-allens.net. Alternatively, please come and chat to me after church one Sunday.
